Kyree Of Bright Colors

Full name: Kyree ((pronounced Kai Ree)) Ostra Deg’iskilki Sifa Iz’Nyamen

Species: Cat

Gender: Female

Age and Place of Birth: 22, Gizli Yangin

Appearance: Kyee is a flame-point cat. Her fur is more of a pale creamy yellow rather than a white and she has reddish gold hair, ear points, small marking on her nose bridge as well as her tail. She has blue brilliant sapphire eyes and long hair. She is small but deceptively agile and strong in the upper arms and legs.

Kyee’s most discerning trait is that she loves bright, flashy colors, particularly when they are vibrant and full of life. She finds the brightly painted bodies of the Akuma beyond beautiful, but her family’s well protected social status prevent her from dying her own fur and hair, so instead she takes to dying fabric or trading for brightly colored fabric to make her dressed out of. She loves the feel of a well-made linen fabric for a nice dress, but due to its absorbent properties and the constant snow around Olahn Kolarin, has to make due with silks, fine wools and sometimes even some other hapless species furs.

Family: Her father and head of the family, Nekrom Sik Semnet Ruzhal T’planti Duga Ou’Nyamen, A Seal-Point Cat. Her mother and ‘calm’ of the family, Gatomi Sik Ya’Sima Solak Iz’Nyamen, a Lynx Point Cat. And her elder brother and prodigee of the family, Kater Ostra Semnet Ruzhal T’planti Ya’Sima Ou’Nyamen, a Blue Point cat and currently missing.

Friends: Kyee currently doesn’t have any close friends other than her missing brother Kater, mostly due to her chosen oddity and the fact she prefers practicing with her schimitar and sewing than actually doing any sort of magic. However she remains optimistic that she may meet friends soon.

Enemies: Mostly the families of her father’s rivals but also includes some long term bullies and a female mage instructor Kyee dubbed as Maipa the Drull-Wit. Also as of her 16th year, her own father.

Love Life: None. Kyree has not fancied anyone among the mages and refuses to put in a marriage application. She would rather it happen like in the books or the stories some Akuma share about falling in love. In fact if it were allowed she would be more likely to find love from Akuma than from her fellow Mages. Yes even though the Akuma and Olahn hate each other she still finds them more attractive and lively with what brief glimpses she catches of them.

Likes: Bright Vibrant colors, doing things without magic, sewing and making her own bright clothes as well as fabric dying, practicing with her schimitar and pretending as if she were born Akuma with the freedom described in the books, reading and conversing about tropical like places, such as Akuma and romance. Brightly dyed Akuma fur, and those that can pull it off well. Akuma fashion and sometimes blushing at the site of a cute Akuma tiger or Lion.

Hates: Magic, mainly due to its costs on the user’s own life and youth essentially speeding the death of the user. People who demand she use her magic to turn useless things into something worth something for trade. Being forced into magic in order to stay part of the family. The politics behind upper class families. She also despises ‘mainstream’ fashion and being corralled into it like cattle in order to be ‘beautiful’. She would rather not cut off her hair and wear a black, formless robe. She also hates conformity, at least what’s expected of a mage in Olahn Korlarin.

Fears: The darkness in everyone, particularly herself. She fears she may become a monster like her father if pushed to a point. She also fears the dark due to nightmares and because it was the middle of the night when her brother disappeared.

Strengths: Bright and creative mind that is able to think outside of the box, capable of learning new things easily as long as they interest her and she’s willing to put in the effort of practice. Also, almost entirely due to her desire to better herself in her spear training with the Akuma, Kyree has become very proficient in budgeting her money. This alone is something those with money have a hard time with doing. This stems from the time before she could transmute things into valuable things and would use any shopping money she earned to get just what she needed at a good price and spend the rest on Spear training when the Akuma that would teach her were in the area.

Weaknesses: Psychological scarring due to constantly being compared and overshadowed by her older brother, Kater. This has led to her nightmares and her self-image crisis. When stressed she is prone to stressed induced panic attacks. Also due to her fighting style, she can’t use her magic when fighting unless she stops doing so.

Weaponry and Gear:

Adept in Alteration: Although not her preferred school, it became a necessity for surviving her home and school life. Kyree can essentially turn iron to gold, common stones to precious gems, walk on water for short periods of time, breath underwater for short periods of time, as well as cast an ‘iron flesh’ ability that defends her as if one were wearing armor. She is able to create light where none exists, small spells for a bit of extended reading but only if she’s worried about preserving a book from melted candlewax. If Kyree put more effort into the school and into the magic needed, she could also detect the living or the dead.

Novice Healer: Essentially the only magic school Kyree likes. From being able to detect and help heal injuries of others or herself, to detecting and curing a good portion of common, not uncommon poisons. Kyree would of preferred being allowed to advance in this school over alteration, but her family, particularly her father, demanded she put all her effort into and further her study of Alteration.

One handed Schimitar: Since her magic can’t be currently relied on to keep her safe during travels or any random skirmishes, having formal training was quiet possibly the nicest and best thing her father ever did for her. Magic training came first of course, but both Kater and Kyree were trained in one handed weapon training. For Kyree she preferred a nice light weighted schimitar, mainly because it looked nice and was more effective than say a steel war fan.

Textile artist: Through books and constantly being ignored by her parents thanks to her older brother Kater overshadowing her as the family’s prodigee, Kyree took the time to learn to sew, pattern draft, dye fabric which includes batiste and wood-stamp methods. The lack of bright colors in the Olahn Kingdom has essentially forced Kyree to make everything she wears, and she’s become quiet skilled in it alone that she can trade what she makes for funds and was the primary way she would make herself extra money to train with the Akuma before and even after she learned to transmute. She began the craft when she was eight, though this was mostly hand sewing and painting of designs on whatever paint she could get. Of course this made her look silly, a child of a savant mage doing non-mage menial things, it lead to Kyree being who she is today.

Part of her traveling gear is a sewing kit, for mending and last minute alterations.

Magic Path: Naturalism

History:

Kyree’s life and early childhood and thus her pedigree were pretty much set before the day she was born, let alone conceived. Her father, Nekrom, began the pressure of today by pushing himself yesterday as it were. By the age of three he had casted his first spell, by eight he knew a range of novice spells where most children were just learning their first spell. By the age of eighteen he had become an Adept in his chosen fields of magic and also graduated early. And by the age of thirty, he was already a Savant. Though this did come with a cost, as he used quite a bit of magic to get himself there and he was already showing signs of Grey. Nekrom rose in the political ways of the mage aiming to be a member of the council, but was chosen with great honor to become a Scholar by the time he was fourty.

Eager to continue this bloodline, Nekrom decided to marry for beauty and fertility and choose Gatomi, who at the time was an Adept, for his bride. Nekrom desired nothing short of perfection from his bloodline, and should the child be born a none mage that child would be banished quickly. But fortunately for the family both Kyree and her elder-brother-by-four years, Kater, were both born mages. Born as the family’s second child, Kyree grew up in her elder brother’s shadow. Life in the household was tough as Nekrom desired of having a family of perfection. To be in the top fashion and beauty from his young wife, to his son being the next Nekrom. As for Kyree, well she felt little more than an accessory to her mother and family during this process.

While Kater was pretty much forced into the study of Sorcery, Kyree was taught Naturalism, a school that Gatomi had wished to learn instead of the path of Sorcery. Nekrom allowed this but only should Kyree learn alteration as a foremost. Since the family was part of the wealthy stock, they had access to books that the less fortunate often were forced to forgo. Such books, not related to magic, was where Kyree found her initial escape and through them she developed her own ideas of love and bright places, which lead to her love of bright colors. Through reading she learned at a young age how to sew, and would continue to grow that knowledge through the passing years.

Kyree was just a young kitten when she first laid her eyes upon the Akuma for the first time. At the tender age of eight, her mother Gatomi had taken Kyree with her on a shopping trip. And while Gatomi would converse with mages, with both being a bit gruff to each other, Kyree would look upon the brightly colored warrior people with awe and wonder. At this time she did not learn the spear and was more often than not brisked quickly away from the mountain people whom she fancied and would often make up imaginations of warm bright places where surely these people lived.

In fact it was her fascination with the Akuma that would get Kyree through her magical studies, something which Kyree hated and feared. Such a fear stemmed from watching her brother Kater, the protégée with the pedigree be forced into perfection. Over the years Kyree had watched him age quickly; Such a use of his magic had aged him so he looked ten years older rather than four, and this scared Kyree. Kater always seemed worried about his little sister’s fear, and while Akuma did not seem to care or Gatomi seemed to be aloof, Kater at least would comfort Kyree and would provide the young kitten with very good advice that she still abides by to this day. It was him who told her “Kyree, don’t let anyone force you to be someone you’re not, always stick up for yourself and be who you want to be.” Such words were inspiring and gave Kyree strength to get through magic school, as well as the courage to learn all she can about the Akuma and their magically bright lands.

As long as Kyree would do good in school, IE her father’s view of perfection and advancement, Kyree was allowed any books available on the Akuma people as well as a knowledge of sewing, dyeing fabric, fabric care and design of clothing to her mother’s discretion. This would allow Kyree to have her own style of clothing, and due the fashionable black, it was much cheaper to buy white material in silks or linen’s and then dye them in the darker or brighter colors. This way Kyree learned to save money so she could use it or save it for other things. Though Kyree was pushed to strive to be the best in her field, she was allowed a slower pace thanks to her brother, who would eventually, became an Adept just short of his twentieth birthday.

Kyree was allowed her first taste of freedom when she was fourteen and allowed to shop for herself without her mother holding her hand and dragging her everywhere. So long as she remained proficient in her studies, at this time she was already skilled in the novice school of alteration and was furthering her studies in healing. However whatever freedom she had she would spend by heading over to the trading center and for the first time began to remain there longer. This was where she would gather up books of the different places of the world, what fabrics were best, what metal a mage could use and what should not be used. However as she grew she began to realize that the fantasies about the Akuma that she had concoted as a child through imaginings were not all as grand as they were because no Akuma would give her the time of day. She wondered if there would ever be peace.

A part of Kyree wishes to forget the last day she spoke with and saw her older brother. Kater was sitting upon a stone fountain. Kyree had arrived dragging a wheeled cart with freshly dyed fabrics, some still in the process of needing to be either block printed or put through the batiste process once more. Kyree arrived just in time to see Kater’s love interest run off crying. Something bad happened. Kyree had known about the relationship for about two years, and it made Kater more lenient on using his magic and advancing quickly. Kater asked Kyree to keep the relationship a secret, as the girl was no mage and they weren’t going through official channels of posting their marital applications. And Kyree did keep it a secret…but at that time Kater didn’t realize that fact. He was blinded, blinded by grief sorry and an overwhelming surge of anger.

When Kyree had come up to her older brother to know what was wrong, and tried to sit by him, he stood up as if he was offended by her very presence. He was angry, there was rage in his eyes…and Kyree happened to be the closest person he could release that on…an action he would come to regret. It began with a ‘How dare you’ and it continued with a ‘I protected you’ and ‘I trusted you’. The long verbal abuse and argument ended with a ‘I’ve always hated bright colors’ and ‘You’re the traitor’. The last two were followed with a slap from Kyree, who was in tears. She looked up in her brother’s eyes and said only a few small words; “I love you, big brother, and I’ve never once betrayed you.’ Before she left she called him two things that she still regrets to this day “I’ve always looked up to you but now I can’t look up to you anymore.” And she ran away from him.

When Kyree had run home, she found her mother and her father yelling at each other. Kyree would loon later that Nekrom, having suspicions about his son when he refused to answer a candidate of marriage to a well to do girl from a good mage family, sent a spy to spy on his son. This was how he had found out that Kater had been seeing a none mage girl second class citizen. Kater must of thought that Kyree betrayed him, when she didn’t, but somehow the yelling stopped being about Kater when Kyree caught her fathers eye. Somehow he knew that she had been training with the Akuma, and he began to go after her for choosing to spend her time with such lowly scum.

That was also the first time Kyree looked upon her father with such hatred and disgust. She had told her father she hated him that night, and went to her room to cry. When next she woke, Kater was gone, and so was a piece of Kyree. Things weren’t the same for Kyree after that. Though she practiced with her spear everyday and would duel who she could…she never saw Kater again. At school her attitude changed from “fine I’ll do this if it means I can have freedom” to, “What do I have to do to leave this class early and be rid of it once and for all?”

To further her Alteration training, Kyree had to learn from a wretch of a woman whom she still hates to this day. Dubbed Maipa the Drull-Wit, Maipa remains a cruel and stern woman in the school. Kyree hated her class the most. Every day Maipa would find some amount of her precious time to tell how much of a failure and laughing stock Kyree was and how ugly she looked. Yet Kyree would work really hard, and would find some amount of solice that she was the brightest student and the smartest, a feat which angered Maipa to no end. Kyree rose quickly to learn the more advanced spells of Alteration, it was quiet purely of her desire to be rid of Maipa once and for all and be done with the school. Like her brother before her, Kyree was about twenty when she became an adept at Alteration. And when it came time for her graduation and thus freedom from the school, the only person she cared about being there was not there, her brother Kater. Though her brother wasn’t psyically present, she did have an unlabeled present to her which she somehow knew it was from him. It was a brown collar made of leather. Kyree has been wearing that collar since.

Very soon after graduation she too left the house. Like Kater before her, her father had demanded that Kyree marry the best mage, but Kyree felt no love for the things she grew to hate. Kyree took only what she needed and what mattered most of her when she moved out of her parents house, and she set up a shop where she could sell her garments and more female and male fitted robes. Though she hated the dark colours of such, she was tolerated as being the only general seamstress who would make the mage robes and garments to be more feminine or masculine.

There are aspects of your character sheet that need changing, so it can't be approved at this time. However, if what's outlined below is tweaked, then we can look at it again.

The Magic Kingdom and Mountain Kingdom have no friendly relations. It's a very tense peace that they struggle to maintain. The Mountain Kingdom has no trust for the Magic Kingdom because the Magic Kingdom attacked them first and sought to destroy them; They wouldn't be giving/trading any weaponry with anyone in the Magic Kingdom. It'd be the equivalent of having their enemy to dinner and divulging secrets. What little trades that they do are done extremely fast. No lingering, no nothing. They even avoid eye contact if at all possible. The bulk of Akamu's trading is with the Rats.

And, where Olahn doesn't forge their own weaponry, the only place she could have gotten that would have been Akamu. The metal that it's forged from is essentially sacred because their history foretells that it was gifted to them by the gods; Their founder was shown it by the gods, so they aren't going to be sharing that. It's worth more than most lives.

Olahn wouldn't even want that metal, that weaponry, within their kingdom given the effects of the metal. The metal that the spear would have been forged from would have negated her magic. She'd be carrying around a weapon that rendered her otherwise useless. There'd be no casting any spells while it's in her possession as it cuts off their connection to their soul, as that's how you tap into your magic. It's not really a known reason, the only conclusion that it cuts off their magic and everything becomes useless.

These points are expressed in, and can be found in, both the Akamu and Olahn Kingdom Information breakdowns, found in the OOC sections.

So what could the spear be made out of? Metal she transmuted herself? And where would I have her learn the Spear, from distant watching? Like transmuting regular stone to metal?

Well, my question then would be why would she have a spear when the magic is verbal and somatic? The spells they cast need those gestures, otherwise, it's not complete, and a spear would make that impossible.

Where Olahn doesn't forge, she could purchase a spear elsewhere, but it wouldn't be from Akamu. The spear--if you do decide to go that route--would have to be made out of regular metal (AKA - steel), and she'd not be able to cast a spell while using that spear, at all, given that it requires two hands to wield it.

Lastly, the Akamu wouldn't be practicing in front of her, so she'd have to find another way to learn how to use it effectively.

I got inspired from Ganeron's character with her weapon training. I guess I don't know the world as much as I thought I read. Very well I'll scrap it then.

A rapier is a single-handed weapon, as stated in their post; A finesse weapon, it's allowed that character to use it and cast spells simultaneously.

Kyree is no longer a part of this roleplay or world. She's been removed.
