Scarlet city stood silhouetted by the rising sun, it's tall buildings like dark monoliths, silently imposing themselves across the horizon. The distant orange sun illuminated a patchwork of clouds, giving the sky a deep coral candecance, only interrupted by the streaking lines of planes far above. Kira and Sam strolled through a small park, aimlessly meandering around the empty paths that criss-crossed the frosty grass. The small public park was quiet, but not entirely detached from the hum of disant traffic as the city slowly made its way to work, school or people’s other daily tasks. A distant rumble hinted at the comings and goings of trains, the only louder sounds being the occasional car that made its way down a nearby suburban street. Most of the tantalisingly reclusive park was still in shadow, the slowly rising sun having not reached more than the rusty tops of a smattering of playground structures and public recreational exercise contraptions installed a few years ago.
Eventually the siblings came to a slight rise in the path, on top of which a bench stood off to the right, facing towards the upcoming dawn sun. The small knoll was just high enough to give the feeling of having an uninterrupted view of the distant buildings, some of them now slowing starting to also be illuminated by the bright interior lights of offices or the glow of white collar workers booting up their computers while they groggily sipped a coffee from their favourite big brand name. Sam would normally be one of them if he hadn’t insisted on staying home to mind her again. This time she welcomed his company.
The two sat down on the bench, neither particularly caring about the morning dew that coated its top. Kira ran her fingers over the coarse surface of the seat, it’s neglected surface was coarse and the varnish was inevitably flaking off. Kira huddled closer to her brother against the chill, her burns only slightly tingling as she moved thanks to the prescribed pain killers. Sam tenderly placed his arm around her shoulder, just as a lump settled in Kira’s throat and the beginnings of tears formed in her light blue eyes, which now reflected an enchanting pallet of sunrise colours. As they sat in silence, reminiscing on the memories of their parents on this very bench, a single tear spilled from her eye and made its way down Kira’s right cheek. Unbidden, Kira’s thoughts sank into the familiar depths of grief, filling her with the dull ache of regret and sorrow. Her mother and father had always had such high hopes for Kira, despite her near compulsive habits of conducting herself poorly in school and, more often than not, at home. It seemed so cruel and cliched to Kira, that only now after their presence was ripped from her life, did she truly appreciate them the way she ought to have since the second she first opened her eyes. As though reading her guilt stricken mind, Sam softly spoke up, wrenching her attention away from dejection and heartbreak.
“They would be proud-,” he said, his voice choking for a split second before wrestled back control within a moment. “They would be happy now that you’re going after something.” He looked at her with glowing pride in his eyes. “Well, in between multiple mental breakdowns because of what you’re going after...” He said, a slight droll grin appearing on his lips. Kira couldn’t help but smile and cringe at his, as usual, terribly timed humour.
“You’re so stupid.” She said, matter of factly, the choking feeling in her throat dissipating as he chucked and nodded his agreement. Kira’s tears dried and for a time she enjoyed the view, the brisk morning air, and the presence of her older brother.
They walked on after a while, following the seemingly ancient family tradition of first picnicking on the bench, before walking to the playground where Sam and their father would humour Kira’s insatiable appetite for playing games when she was much younger, both doing their best to match her enthusiasm.
Now as they walked past the haphazardly placed swings, slides, see-saws and climbers, an idea struck Kira. She broke off the path and lightly jogged towards the monkey bars, her loose sweatpants and soft hoodie not bothering her burns, the worst of which were also bandaged. Sam followed, a quizzical look playing over his face. Kira stopped under the bars, looked up and jumped up to grab onto one. She firmed her grip on the wet metal, inhaled until her rib twinged despite the pills, and pulled herself up towards it. She did not get very far. Her arms barely bent and face reddening with exertion, she let go and landed back on the ground, jarring her body and grimacing in pain.
“That could have gone better.” She said dryly as Sam unhelpfully began snickering despite himself.
“Yeah well I guess that’s what you get when you passionately despise exercise since you were old enough to realise what it is.” He pointed out, grinning as Kira grumpily strode passed him towards the path. “We’re going to have to work on, well, a lot.” He said, before turning and following his little sister.
“I need a coffee!” Kira announced, suddenly remembering how tired she was and looking forward to spending another day on the couch under a heap of blankets.

After re-retrieving his small personal effects from the prisons out take and processing area, He finalizes the discharge and is released where he calls a cab to take him back to his home on the other side of town. Once he is home He gets a shower and cleans off real good before going down to his Basement that he has set up as a make shift lab and gets on his computer and looks at the results of an analysis of a sample of blood from once of his previous targets. looking at the DNA and trying to identify what genes are linked with super ability's and what gene's are to what power. Hoping to unlock the secrets and hopefully to become rich by selling 'what will your new born have when they grow older' kits. " He then turns his attention to the inactive alpha suit that he took from his old lab as a trophy from them firing him. As this suit was the very first suit designed by Maddox at his old job, it is more primitive with less scanners smaller memory core that can only handle a basic interface with only basic voice commands, and a micro fission reactor instead of the safer power cells in his other designs. he would begin a new blueprint by taking the old designs of the Alpha suit and begin by making modifications by keeping the reactor but upgrading the senor suite and computer storage he hopes to have this suit operational in a week or two though with the reactor He would be more detectable by sensors.

Casey gets a notification that the search warrant was approved and he immediately finishes what he is doing. A short phone call later and there will be an FBI SWAT team waiting at the Maddox residence for him. He informs Mr. Martins that the warrant has been approved and he is moving immediately to take care of it. Casey runs outside to his jet-bike as it starts up. In a couple seconds Casey is riding off towards the Maddox residence.

FBI agents roll up to Maddox's house in armored cars. A second later Casey rides in on his jet-bike and lands as the FBI agents exit their vehicles in full tactical gear. Casey walks up to the door and pounds on it before yelling in to Maddox, "Federal Bureau of Investigation and Federal Super Agency, open the door immediately. We have warrants to gather evidence."

Hearing the door, He puts his designs in the cabinet near the alpha suit and powers down the nearby computer terminal. and goes up to the door and opens it. "Hello there, sorry for the delay. How can I help you special agents?" He would gesture for them to enter. " Can I interest any of you in a drink or other refreshment?"

"No. Step aside so we can gather evidence. We will be searching your computer for information. We have a warrant to search the whole residence as well as all of your domains." Casey says bluntly walking past Maddox. The full SWAT team walks in and begins gathering evidence. Casey walks to the entrance of the basement and walks down the stairs scanning the room with his sensors. He spots Maddox's computer and says, "start it up and unlock it. I have to go through the whole hard drive and find evidence." Casey approaches the computer wait's for Maddox's response. Casey looks at the alpha suit and says, I can see you have more than one nano-suit.

Maddox unlocks the computer and gives Casey full access. "That is Alpha. It is the original prototype that I designed when I still worked at the Institute before my family was killed. Its outdated and really hasn't had fuel in it for 2 years now, I don't even know if the micro reactor will even fire up."
"Jack, Give Agent Casey full access to restricted information and also the vault."
Dominic would say to the computer. "yes Dominic." the AI would respond. Casey recognizing its the same AI that Dominic uses in his suit. Dominic would turn back to Casey, "if you need anything else the AI should be able to handle it, if not I will be in the kitchen making some food."
Dominic would leave the agents and the swat team in the lab and would proceed to throw a frozen pizza in the oven and set a timer to let him know when the pizza is ready, and then he would sit on his sofa and try to relax.

Casey sifts through all the data on the computer. He copies almost all of it to go through it later. He checked the get rich quick scheme chuckled a bit and laughed because he thought it wouldn't take off. After a couple of hours combing through the house and searching every inch of the house Casey and the SWAT team finally leave the house. Casey walks off to his jet-bike and starts it up. He takes a moment to relay the warrant has been served to its conclusion. In the next couple days he analyzes the data he found. The trial is in a few weeks and Casey will be busy preparing for his testimony against Mr.Maddox.

Dominic sits in his living room eating his pizza with the television Playing the local news channel while going over Alpha's blueprints and taking notes on a pda on improvements that can be made to its sensors and main processing unit. 30 minutes later he finished his pizza, and back in his basement lab, where he begins taking the Alpha suit apart and cleaning all the old parts and taking inventory. Later on in the day he has his shopping list for some miscellaneous electronic bits and different size connectors. and he would go off in his car to the local electronic supplier and look for all his parts, while also putting in a order for a custom circuit board for his new Processor unit. before heading home and getting back to work on his other project with the DNA of his powered targets.

"In other news, the vigilante Dominic Maddox has been found not guilty of fifteen felony murder charges pinned on him by the FBI and FSA. The defense argued that a handful of the cases had evidence of the defendant being framed and the other allegations fell through. The federal prosecutor overseeing the case lost their chief testimony in the case of Agent Thorne being reassigned across country just prior to the trial and agent Norton being unable to testify due to an infection caused by injuries sustained in operations in and around Scarlet City. We will be wishing the federal super agent and medal of honor recipient a swift and speedy recovery. The hospital television is switched off John Martins who had just entered the room where Casey was in bed.

"You gotta be kidding me. That case was open and shut. I can't believe that we won't even get a chance to appeal. I couldn't do anything to sway the result. Has my doctor come up from Kentucky with the replacement arm? Casey asks looking at the amputated stump that put him out of action. He had collapsed on the steps of federal building just a day prior to the start of the trial. "Doctor Weissmann is on his way and he said he is happy to lend a hand to you. John says chuckling despite Casey's frown directed at him. He continued Kira's paperwork has all been accepted and she will be inducted into the cadet next week. I will start her with some weekend classes until school is out for summer. Casey acknowledges what John said before falling silent for a while. Before long nurse comes in to administer more medication to Casey before he nods of to sleep.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Casey struts out of the hospital to a crowd of reporters who awaited to see him as he had finally made his recovery just a week prior to summer. His replacement hand had been properly been attached and his cybernetics had been installed. He confidently answered the questions of the reporters and explained the nature of his injuries. He avoided any questions about the Maddox case and pushed through the crowd of reporters to get to where Mr.Martins waited in an agency car for him. Before long they would be at the rail yard where the black bullet awaited having been primed for his arrival by Mongrel so that he could fly it back to Kentucky to maintenance and service it back at his shop. Before long they would be on board and the Black Bullet would be puffing along the rails before taking off. There would be a crowd of rail fans to see the Black Bullet in all its glory flying home.

Kira stepped out of the shower and peered over her shoulder, eying herself in the bathroom mirror. She ran a hand over her left shoulder onto a few discoloured lines that were left over from her run-in with Garrison. Kira focused on her hand and she sighed. After a further medical exam it was discovered that Kira’s powers had developed to be able to accelerate the healing process. It wasn’t uncommon for people with abilities to not fully manifest their powers until adulthood, so it wasn’t unusual that it had only surfaced under extreme conditions. She had been badly burned by the violent explosions that she repeatedly generated, and while most of the damage had already healed, including her broken rib, her hands had not. The normal burn marks had faded away over the course of a week, revealing a strange patchwork of white lines that were slightly raised from her skin. The irregular hash pattern of scarring covered both her hands, and faded as they ran on to her wrists. The scars reminded her of the glowing energy that emanated from her when she engaged her ability, she just hoped she wouldn’t be left with more every time. Kira frowned, but after inspecting the rest of her short frame, she was glad to see the other areas with scarring had almost completely faded away, leaving only the faintest trace of the same white lines, most of which nobody would notice - she hoped.
Her scarred hands had drawn unwanted attention from her classmates as soon as she returned to school, some of which had been benign and some of which had been more maliciously motivated. Kira sighed, trying not to think about the long day of school that lay ahead, instead focusing on the end of term that was so tantalisingly close, and wrapped a towel around herself before heading to her bedroom.
Before her shower, Kira had just returned from a morning jog with Sam. Ever since her recovery he had insisted on starting a light fitness routine, which meant building up to three runs a week as well as some basic calisthenics workouts. Sam had been a powerlifter all through highschool, as well as being a fairly active amateur boxer up until their parents’ passed away, when he had to devote most of his time to work in order to provide for Kira.
She had progressed nicely from hardly being able to run half a mile, to being able to run three miles without stopping, and he was impressed with her developing muscle endurance. They were both enjoying the exercise, Kira more so than she wanted to admit, after years of basically refusing to exercise. As for Sam, he used it as an excuse to get his cardio back up to scratch.
“Breakfast’s on the table.” Sam called from the kitchen as Kira emerged from her room wearing her school uniform. School was almost over for the year, and she couldn’t be happier about it. “Oh and by the way, the paperwork all went through for the Cadet Program, I don’t have a date but you should be starting soon.” He said with a warm smile, picking up his bag and heading out the door.
“Have a good day!” Kira called after him, sitting down and demolishing the porridge he just prepared before leaving. She had always had a healthy appetite, but lately she was ravenous.
A short time later Kira walked towards school, enjoying the warm, rising sun on her face as she blissfully listened to music through her earphones.

Casey sat in the engineer's seat of Black Bullet as it was landing at his headquarters. Viewed from the north with the coal mine to the left, the rest of the rail yard to the right in a sort of t shape and a spur for take offs and landings from the south. The tracks that led to the mainline were overgrown and unmaintained without use. Pulling into the yard the Black Bullet puffs past derelict rolling stock being a mix of freight and passenger cars. The train pulls up to a relatively maintained passenger platform a Maintenance crew waits ready to take the Black Bullet to be serviced and washed. Casey disconnects the Black Bullet from the rest of the consist as a small diesel switch engine is brought up to take the rolling stock to its sheds. Casey walks to the building that used to be the central office of the mining operation but became his family home as his family fell on hard times almost losing everything but were able to keep things together until the turn of the century. Casey had turned it all around when he had returned from Afghanistan and began fabricating prosthetic limbs for people who lost theirs. The injuries Casey had been recovering from were wearing on him as he entered his bedroom and went to sleep.

Over the next couple days Casey worked in his workshop to replace his pistol that was annihilated during his fight with Maddox. He found that the many pieces were unsalvageable and he would have to make a new one from scratch. Casey worked for hours a day hunched over his fabrication bench and hardly left his workshop during the day and stretching into the evenings. Mongrel occasionally came in to check up on him and brought him food and drink when she found time between her own breaks and leading work on another pair of personal coaches.

Casey had set a deadline for the Black Bullet to return to Scarlet City and he was intent on meeting it. His superiors were unhappy with his performance as well as an increase in crime in the streets due to the collapse of the Scarlet City Police Department as an unintended consequence of FBI operations in and around the city. Few saw it coming and fewer planned for it to happen. Casey wondered if he would have a chance to work on his hunch about the Kenji without overtly spying on the boy. He still had barely enough information to make a solid case for him being a closeted super. With Kira Casey new that he might have to deal with the super called "Angel" who was hardly like her namesake and Casey considered her a menace similar to Dominic Maddox. Very little was still known internally about "Angel" in the Agency and it wasn't Casey's case anyways. Mongrel was the lead on the investigation of "Angel" and enjoyed the envy she received from Casey about the issue. The deadline to return to Scarlet City was fast approaching and it will be tight even with all the extra help to make preparations.

Sam’s office building vibrated as an explosion shook the city centre. He rushed out of his cubicle and joined his coworkers who were already looking out the large windows that made up one wall of their office.
“Look down in the street!” Someone exclaimed with a gasp. Sam followed his coworkers gaze to the end of the street down below, past a gathering crowd. Smoke poured from the ground floor of a building on the street, it’s windows shattered and frames charred by flames. Another explosion erupted from the main entrance, fire spewing out onto the street and blackening the pavement. Sam’s brow furrowed and his chattering coworkers hushed as a trio of figures emerged from the flames.
Here we go again, Sam thought.

Sirens blared as police vehicles hurtled down the pedestrian street, bypassers hurriedly getting out of the way as they noticed the chorus of sirens. The cars came to a stop just as a second explosion detonated and blasted out the main entrance of the smoking building. Three figures emerged from the flaming facade as the cars’ drivers and passengers disembarked, taking cover behind their vehicles as the only available cover. While some of them were Scarlet City police officers, the majority of the department was decimated following the massive corruption scandal uncovered by federal agents not long ago. Barely any of the city’s law enforcement infrastructure had been left intact, so National Guard units were brought in to supplement regular police officers that had been transferred from various other jurisdictions.
The guardsmen slung their rifles around and took up positions, using the cars as cover and to brace their weapons. The three figures walked out of the smoke that now streamed up into the air, their features becoming clearer as they approached the semi-circle of squad cars and trucks that surrounded the blown out building.
“That’s them, watch out for his -”, an officer shouted before being cut off by a brief but deafening bang accompanied by a blinding light.

Aimpoint, a superhero with the FSA, loaded his DMR while sitting on the outboard bench of a little bird helicopter. Scarlet City was a blur beneath him as his hands deftly prepared his Scar-H TPR rifle, ensuring it was in perfect order before engaging a trio of villains that had been engaged by federal forces downtown. The group were responsible for several incidents recently, each time racking up a body count. Only two of them had powers, but that was more than enough. One, uncreatively dubbed Flashbang by the media, effectively replicated the effects of his namesake, which was a nasty surprise for anyone in his way. The other powered criminal had some kind of physical augmentation ability that hadn’t been fully investigated yet.
Not only was approaching by air an effective way to rapidly respond to incidents across the city which was becoming all too necessary these days, but Aimpoint also hoped it would completely eliminate the danger from Flashbang.
The little bird slowed as it approached the pillar of smoke that billowed into the sky, lowering to hover just above the rooftops where it whipped around in an arc to give Aimpoint a clear view up and down the street. Below him the police officers and national guards were locked in a gunfight with the three villains who were moving amongst the police vehicles, having incapacitated or killed those taking cover behind some of them. Aimpoint brought up his rifle and almost immediately acquired a target. His abilities allowed his nervous system to operate at a much faster speed than average, coupled with slow-motion-like perception of events when his adrenaline spiked and abnormal fast twitch muscle fibres, he was an extremely effective gunfighter.
He normally operated on the other side of the country, but had been redeployed to support the rest of the federal units that were brought in to compete with the spike in criminal activity since the mass arrests that took place after the corruption was rooted out. Not for the first time since his arrival in Scarlet City, Aimpoint cursed Casey and Thorne for kicking up such a sh*t storm for the rest of them to deal with. He kicked other thoughts out of his head, steadied his breathing, then got to work.

***

Kira pocketed her phone and flopped down onto her bed, finally relieved. She had just finished talking to Sam after ringing him the instant she got home from school and saw that a gunfight had happened just outside his work. He calmed her down from a near hysteric state, insisting that he hadn’t been near enough to be in any kind of danger, and that it was more or less over before the violence could get out of hand. He also told her that unfortunately he would be late home from work because of the incident, so Kira would have to make her own dinner - cooking was yet another thing she was criminally lazy in regards. An odd thought popped into Kira’s mind as she lay there. It occurred to her that if she made it through the cadet program, she might someday be the one dealing with a situation like that, just like Casey or Mongrel.

The Black Bullet sat waiting by the passenger platform venting its excitement from its safety valve despite rain pouring down all around it. Its body had been washed and repainted and it shone like a horse spoiling for a race. Sharp golden lettering was freshly painted on its tender exclaiming the name, "Black Bullet". Its number plates are lit up reading X-042 and its headlight shines through the dark Kentucky rain. It is attended by the ground crew but its engineer was nowhere to be found. John sits on a bench under the overhang of the station platform on a wet bench huddled in the strangely cold rainy day for the beginning of a Kentucky summer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry typed up a message to Dominic Maddox requesting that he come to the Scarlet City institute. Previous attempts to gather him had failed, Henry assumed it was because Mr.Maddox was ignoring him. This time he was going to try something different from exorbitant pay or the chance to wipe those treacherous supers from the earth. He sprinkled little hints about knowing who might have killed his family in a way of it catching Dominic's eyes but to come to that conclusion the vigilante would have to read between the lines. Then again Mr.Maddox's phone could have been broken in a confrontation with a super and he hadn't had the time or the money to fix it. Henry hit send and hoped that this one might get him his catch. He smiled the message was sent before giving a stern look as he heard one of the experiments scream down the hall before it was abruptly cut off.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The warmth of the machining table embraced Casey as he put the finishing touches on his latest project. He had been slaving over the bench for the past weeks almost sacrificing meeting the Zieglers at the Scarlet City rail yard. "That's today" the realization dawns on Casey suddenly as he finishes. He throws his project in a sack haphazardly and begins to run out into the Kentucky rain. He runs into a very hard wall that wasn't in the doorway a second ago. Casey's collision with the unyielding wall of almost inhuman flesh would have thrown him to the ground if the large hands of Mongrel hadn't shot forth and stabilized him. Quickly recovering from the shock they both run to the Black Bullet across the rail yard. Mounting the cab Casey signals to John to board the train. A double blast of the whistle signifies that they will be departing. A loud puff as the drivers begin to spin slowly at first and picking up speed. The locomotive eagerly begins to roll down the track towards the end of the line picking up speed and lifting off into the sky. Turning north the train charts its course for Scarlet City with a chorus of the clattering of couplings and the elated puffing of the locomotive climbing above the dark clouds into the midday sun.

After meeting a chaperone from the FSA near their home, Kira and Sam were driven in an agency car to Scarlet City’s railyard, some distance from the city centre. The extensive area was a sprawling series of parallel and joining rail tracks, as well as various warehouses and shelters for storage. All this was crisscrossed by electricity wires, which were noticeably missing as they approached the line reserved for the Black Bullet’s use.
Although it wasn’t an especially hot day, the sun was pleasantly warm on Kira’s face as she and Sam took a seat on a bench while waiting for Casey to arrive. Kira was fidgety, nervously biting at her nails and unable to find a comfortable position to sit and wait. Sam just chuckled when he noticed her, checking his phone and shooting a questioning look at the chaperone as Kira rapidly bobbed her right knee next to him.
“I’m sure he’ll be here any second now.” The man from the agency said, watching the blue sky through his dark sunglasses and glancing at his wristwatch as it approached lunchtime.

Dominic Free of all of his charges, Returns to his Home with his Garage filled with packages that have been delivered over the past couple days that Dominic was in and out of court. He Brings up the original blueprints of the Alpha prototype nano-suit, and begins implementing the upgrades that he has discovered over the past years while using his more sleek, and improved suit. While he works, he would be keeping an ear on the news and other forms of media, Keeping an eye on events throughout Scarlet City now that most of the Police, and other high end officials being taken down from the FBI Agent Thorne and FSA Agent Casey.
Days go by as Dominic re-wires the suit and implements all the changes that he has added to the blueprint of the alpha suit. He goes through his old things that have been buried in failed projects, and other lab machines that have broken over the past few years and found a mostly intact fuel cell that he would install in the alpha suits reactor. He then starts up the reactor, and initializes the suit’s main software and begins running diagnostics to check the suit over and makes sure it is ready to use. As the tests run and the Suit AI gets installed Dominic would go upstairs and get to bed for the night and prepare to go out for the suit's maiden voyage.

As the sun begins to fall in the west a black spot appears on the reddening horizon. The Black spot becomes elongated vertically as details become more visible. In the bottom center of the spot a bright light appears as the small silhouette of the Black Bullet becomes visible. The large billows of black smoke dwarf the rectangular shape of the locomotive. The train turns in the sky revealing the now much larger consist with more coaches. It turns again and flies over the rails leading into the yard from the East and begins to descend towards them. The train lands many miles out and can be seen hugging the rails as it steams into the yard pulling into the siding where the group waited for it. Casey can be seen hanging his head outside of the window as the Black Bullet pulls past Zieglers. The locomotive healthily puffs and chuffs to a stop and breaks hiss as the cars clatter to a gentle stop.

Casey climbs down the ladder from the locomotive cabin. Walking over to where the group sat he was smiling from ear to ear. As he realized that they had been waiting here since at least eight in the morning. "You know my message meant eight in the evening right? Although I have to say that I was surprised how fast we were able to get here. I am four hours early after all. I really shaved off a lot of time this trip. Casey almost looked a decade younger than he did before he left looking like he was actually in his thirties. His clothes looked new and fresh despite a fine layer of of coal dust as well as few black smudges on his face. Very shortly after Casey finished speaking Mongrel also emerged from the cab of the locomotive clutching a dusty black shovel. She looked to be drenched with sweat and was wearing coveralls unzipped with the four sleeves tied around her hips. She wore a tight black tank which was worn under her coveralls. Her brown skin was several shades darker than it previously been that morning. One of her fingers seemed to be mildly bleeding but she hadn't noticed as she was clearly in an amazing mood. Casey turned to her and smiled his light brown coat had some noticable arm shaped smudges of black. John Martins suddenly drew all attention to himself as he slipped, yelped and flung a stack of paperwork into the air as he fell to the hard gravel beneath him. Casey ran over to see if he was alright and as soon as it was verified that John hadn't been seriously hurt Casey went back to the rest of group after helping John up.

Kenji’s life had gone on the same as always. His family continued to share their “love”, he stayed in his room most of the time, and he kept more track of the news than ever before. Secretly he had hoped that all criminals, whether super or not, would be smart enough to keep a low profile for a while. Sadly, it seemed like most of them were as stupid as they can get. If it keeps going on like that then all those special agents would never leave. A shudder ran through him at the thought of the city crawling with highly educated special forces specializing in finding and neutralizing people with any kind of power. Just the day before he gotten a mail from his university that lectures would start up again. It was a relief that he had a reason to leave the house again. In the more or less a week since the terroristic events took place, the ‘schedule’ didn’t apply. It seemed like that person was smart enough to not do anything. The question was for how long that would be. When would be the next murder of which he would be blamed? Ken had decided to go on his usual rounds again according to the schedule. Maybe that person would make a crucial mistake because of the different circumstances. Or was he overestimating that person? A sigh escaped from Kenji. Would that person really turn out to be the one that he estimated them to be? That would certainly complicate his plan. If that person can not be apprehended and handed over to the police in a way that undoubtedly proved them to be the murder then there would only be one solution left to make that person stop. Kenji convinced himself that if there was no other choice then so be it. It was definitely not for revenge. Definitely.
The next high risk day according to the schedule was in two days.

“Something must have been lost in translation, sir.” The chaperone, a lower-ranking agent, said in a resigned voice as he glanced between Casey and Mongrel. He was visibly sweating in his tailored, casual business suit after waiting for hours with the sun beating down on them. “You’ve already met the Zieglers, so there’s really no need for an introduction.” The young man said, “I’ll be waiting at my car for you, Mr Ziegler.” He turned, eyebrows arched after looking at the soot-covered pair of agents, and began briskly walking back towards the car park.
“Good to meet you, again!” Sam exclaimed, proffering a hand after getting to his feet and walking towards Casey with Kira following closely behind him. Despite the fantastic weather that Scarlet City was enjoying, Kira was as pale as ever. She wore a pair of grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt that was too big for her, fidgeting with its hem as she nervously followed her older brother towards the supers. Her eyes nervously darted around, glancing at Casey as they approached, but not daring to settle on Mongrel’s hulking form. At best, Kira was already shy, but faced with two towering supers, one of which had four arms, she was even more bashful than normal.

Casey accepts the handshake from Sam as the two came together. "It's good to see all you again. Well what matters is that we are all hear. I tell you what, there's a nice restaurant in the city called Anton's Capital Grill. We can all get cleaned up and meet there in about an hour and a half. Both myself and Mongrel are famished I am sure the Zieglers are quite hungry themselves. We can discuss the details of the Cadet program there over a good meal. Casey said in a cheerful tone until he started to pick up on Kira's diffident body language and posture. Casey follows his statement addressing Kira directly, "I have heard you have been doing well Kira. You certainly look like you have gotten quite stronger. I have only heard good things about your improvements in the past few weeks. I am impressed and you have earned it. Mongrel smiles at Casey pulling her hair back before turning towards the Black Bullet. John pulls out his phone to make reservations for Anton's waiting for the go ahead from Casey.

“Oh-” Kira’s cheeks grew red at Casey’s words, “Thank you.” She said quietly, a small smile spreading across her blushing face. Kira’s unusually bright eyes briefly darted to meet Casey’s before returning to somewhere on the ground. Apart from her brother, Kira had always struggled with communicating, and she was painfully aware of her overwhelming shyness. Her blush deepened as she felt Casey’s eyes on her. When she did not volunteer anything more, Sam threw an arm around her shoulders and excused them.
“Food sounds great!” He said. “We’ll head home and get ready, see you there.” He said, giving Casey a faintly apologetic look as he turned around with Kira and walked towards the car park where the FSA agent waited for them.
