You were looking for places to go in Calif.

I took a steam train to Ft Brag before the gov't moved it east.
Fetzer and Simi Wineries were great places to get a wine education and taste edible flowers. San Fran is a unique place to see all the local flavor.

Glass beach in an interesting beach that once was the town's dump. Cool to find glass pieces smooth and they make petty pebbles for fishbowl or decor. You need a pen nub for a fountain pen, you find billions in the sand...be sure to wear shoes.
Monterey was a great place to see aquarium and otters in the wild. They are so cute to watch.

If you can get tickets Blizzcon in Anaheim is a wonderful weekend experience. Disneyland is there.
